About Us

Founded on 1 Augustus 1985 by Charly & Laura van Niekerk. Charly Mingas Goldsmith has been synonymous with hand manufactured jewellery from Stellenbosch for the past 32 years. Charly has been a goldsmith for over 40 years, so you can be assured of his passion, workmanship and commitment.

We have manufactured over 800 000 (yes, eight hundred thousand!) rings, which have been shipped all over the world. In fact, we still have clients that come back from abroad on a yearly basis.

Apart from rings, we also manufacture bracelets, earrings, necklaces and much, much more.

Design & Manufacture

We design and interprets clients’ needs with hand drawn sketches, creating a handmade custom piece of jewellery that is unique to you. Our offering includes engagement rings, wedding bands, pendants, earrings, broaches and any special anniversary items. We work with all types of precious metals such as Platinum, Yellow/ White/ Red Gold as well as Sterling Silver.

Diamonds

We can provide diamonds and semi-precious stones of all shapes and sizes to suit your budget and needs at highly competitive prices.

Re-Design

Re-Design of old jewellery or family heirlooms. Bring your heirlooms back to life by contacting us to discuss your options to re-style inherited or dated jewellery pieces.

Repairs & Refurbishing

From time to time, all jewellery requires service and maintenance to keep it looking beautiful and new. You can trust us to give your jewellery our full care and attention it needs. We provide a professional clean, polish and rhodium plate service to restore your jewellery to their former sparkle.

Restringing

We restring necklaces and bracelets, knotted and un-knotted. Pearls are usually knotted individually to prevent rubbing and limit loss in the event of the thread breaking. If you wear your pearls regularly, the silk will in time stretch or fray. While we specialise in restringing pearls and semi-precious stones. We can work with any type of fully drilled

Engraving

Valuations

Your jewellery is precious to you, not only because of its monetary value but because such treasured items often have a story to tell – a story intimately connected with your life. A valuation certification proves ownership and is independently assessed evidence as to the worth of the jewellery.
