Save money with a do it yourself solar pool kit.

Heatpump Pool Heating (Click the heading for full information)

A Hi Temp Titanium Swimming Pool Heat Pump uses electricity to operate. They are actually a form of solar heater, as the sun-warmed air contributes to the efficiency of these units. This heat is extracted from the air, upgraded with a compressor, and then transferred to the water.

For those who enjoy swimming regardless of the weather, a Hi Temp Titanium Heat Pump is the best option available. It is also the preferred method for therapy or athletic trainers, and also when a home is not “solar feasible” (i.e. solar will not fit on roof.) A Hi Temp Titanium heat Pump, when properly sized, can maintain any desired pool temperature between 28 and 35 degrees centigrade, regardless of outside weather conditions. A Hi Temp Titanium heat Pump will work when the outside air temperature is above 8 degrees centigrade.

Due to their high efficiency, Hi Temp Titanium Heat Pumps have a low cost of operation. Typically, for every 20 cents of electric input, you receive R1.00 worth of heat. This is due to the coefficient of performance.

Geyser Heating Options (Click the heading for full information)

Over the past few years homeowners have been pressured to “GO SOLAR” due to the ever increasing price of electricity. This sounds simpler than it is for most homeowners!

While I attended a few home expo’s throughout South Africa as a “mystery shopper” I would have left the expo more confused than ever before when deciding which would be the ideal solar system that meets my needs. There were so many solar systems to choose from- some imported and some local. Prices varied considerably causing even more confusion. Some system had all the bells and whistles and some really basic.

I have been in solar for the past 14 years and I feel that I am in a favourable position to recommend the most effective solar systems known to man.

There are basically 5 effective ways available in South Africa to heat your geyser hot water.

  1. Geyser Heatpumps

  2. Evacuated Glass tube Solar Collectors

  3. Flat Plate Solar Collectors (most popular)

  4. Solo Integrated Solar Geyser

  5. Induction Heating Geysers

Solar Electricity (Click the heading for full information)

Solar energy is not only sustainable, it is renewable and this means that we will never run out of it. It is about as natural a source of power as it is possible to generate electricity.

The creation of solar energy requires little maintenance. Once the solar panels have been installed and are working at maximum efficiency there is only a small amount of maintenance required each year to ensure they are in working order.

They are a silent producer of energy. There is absolutely no noise made from photovoltaic panels as they convert sunlight into usable electricity.

There are continual advancements in solar panel technology which are increasing the efficiency and lowering the cost of production, thus making it even more cost effective.

During operation solar electricity power plants produce zero emissions.

Pool Safety & Pool Alarms (Click the heading for full information)

THE POOLGUARD IN GROUND POOL ALARM is an electronic monitoring system that automatically sounds an alarm when a child or pet over 5kg, falls into your unsupervised pool. The alarm is equipped with state-of-the-art pool alarm technology – subsurface wave detection. It is feature-rich, simple to operate and has been subjected to rigorous testing before released into the market. Entry into the pool will be detected by the unit’s electronic sensor, thus triggering a loud pulsating alarm on the pool side fitted unit and on a wireless receiver placed within your hoPOOLGUARD IN GROUND POOL ALARMme.

NOTE: Swimming Pool Alarms should be included in any pool owner’s safety program. Alarms for pools are most effective when combined with several other “layers of Protection” for pool safety.

Solar Pool Blankets (Click the heading for full information)

A Hi Temp solar blanket heats by day and insulates at night. If left on when the pool is not in use during the day, the blanket allows the sun’s rays to pass through the bubbles to heat the pool water during the day. At night, the bubbles act as an insulator minimizing heat loss.

  • Enjoy 10 – 15 degrees warmer water in season extend your swimming season

  • Cuts heating costs by 70% or more

  • Cuts water evaporation by up to 95%

  • Save on chemicals and energy

  • Keeps pool cleaner

  • Durable and reliable

  • Fewer seams and fewer problems

  • Low-density polyethylene made from Dow prime resins that are very durable

  • Blanket lays flatter and looks better

  • Ultra lightweight and easy to handle

Salt Chlorinators (Click the heading for full information)

A salt chlorinator is a smart machine that takes ordinary sea (rock) salt (sodium chloride) and through the process of electrolysis converts it to chlorine and back to salt in a continuous process.

Automatic Solar Heating Controller (Click the heading for full information)

Our Solar Heater Controller is designed to automatically regulate the temperature of your swimming pool by controlling the flow of water through your solar panels.

On a hot day, the temperature of the water in the solar panel is warmer than the water in the swimming pool. The Controller unit will close the valve, which will cause the water to circulate through the solar panels. This will increase the pool water temperature up to the temperature that you set on the Controller.

On a cold or over cast day, the temperature of the water in the solar panel will be colder than the water in the swimming pool. The Controller unit will open the valve and the water will bypass the solar panel back in to the swimming pool, thus eliminating any loss of heat.

Once the unit is installed and your ideal temperature set, the Controller unit will automatically open and close the valve as illustrated in the diagram. This will help keep your pool at a constant temperature all year round.
