ABOUT US

Watchmen Security is a Christian-based security company dedicated to fostering peace in Africa. Founded by Col (Ret.) Gert Schoombie in 2006 while residing in Kimberley, South Africa, we are committed to serving all individuals regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, or gender.

Our core values emphasize the implementation of international best practices while conducting all activities with respect for people, cultures, and traditions. Initially, we focused on industrial security, particularly in the mining sector. However, in 2016, we identified the need for a rural security division to address poaching-related incidents in the Northern Cape.

The escalation of our Watchmen Anti-Poaching Unit (APU) operations led us to implement an Area Protection Plan, collaborating with local farmer's associations. We integrated into larger organized agricultural structures such as Agri OK (Oranje Karoo), Agri NC (Northern Cape), and the South African Police Service (SAPS). Through this collaboration, we effectively implemented the Rural Safety Plan proposed by the South African Government.

In addition to our work with SAPS, we actively engage with the Community Police Forum (CPF) to conduct regular crime-combatting operations. We also focus on training communities to protect themselves and establish their own reaction units. As a member of the Navic and Syntell groups, we monitor all major roads, extending our vigilance even to neighboring provinces. With this comprehensive structure in place, we are well-equipped to address all forms of crime.

INDUSTRIAL PROTECTION UNIT (IPU)

The Industrial Protection Unit focuses on safeguarding industrial buildings, mines, mechanical equipment, and building sites. Our comprehensive services include:

AREA PROTECTION UNIT (APU)

Our Area Protection Unit primarily focuses on safeguarding farmlands. We leverage the unique skills of the San for the protection of livestock and other assets. The San guards are live-in guards, providing around-the-clock security. To ensure this, we relocate the relatives of your guard, offering you 24/7 protection. The San guards are also trained and licensed to use firearms.
